Repairs
Because of the excessive amount of sewing involved while making a fur, small openings may appear in the seams of the fur from time to time. This is normal. Resewing these openings when they are in the seam is not a problem.
Quality furs usually have numerous seams. Because of this, several small openings may be present in any number of seams. Often an open seam will be repaired only to find another open seam close by. This gives the impression that the first seam was not closed. When you have miles of thread in some fur garments, several small openings are not unusual, but they are often hard to find.
If you do find an opening at a seam do not neglect to have it repaired. Bring it to us and have our expert furrier take care of it. Even a small opening in a seam should not be ignored. It will very likely get bigger and will ultimately result in more complicated repairs. Get your fur fixed as soon as you see and opening at a seam.
Repairing Hooks, Pockets, & Lining
Repairs involve much more than just sewing. They can include replacing or tightening loose buttons, repairing or replacing hooks, fixing ripped seams, and repairing worn or damaged areas of the coat.
It’s also common for pockets to become worn or ripped from frequently putting your hands in them. If a coat is worn roughly or while driving often, you may also notice tears developing around the underarm, shoulder, or upper back areas due to repeated stress and movement.
The lining of a fur coat is typically hand-sewn during the construction of the garment. Because of this, it is completely normal for the lining to develop a small opening after a season or two of regular wear from putting the coat on and taking it off. If you notice any opening in the lining, it should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent it from opening further or causing more of the lining to come loose.
Any repair should be addressed as soon as you notice it. Fixing small tears, loose stitching, or damaged areas early helps prevent them from becoming larger, more costly repairs. Prompt repairs help preserve the integrity and longevity of your fur coat.
